In 1992, after the demise of L.A.'s STG (Screaming to God), vocalist and keyboardist Shane Talada met up
with Scott Weaver, an electronic musician, to form Element.
Originally Element was to be purely an electronic band, however they increasingly began incorporating
bass and guitar in many of their tracks to provide additional dynamics.
Immediately after the "Nightmare Life" cassette L.P. was released in early January '95, Shane and
Scott hooked up with Jeremy Meza (who has performed with a number of influential
Gothic acts and is the current producer of Ghastly Magazine) to play guitar and bass full-time for
the band. Jeremy brought many new ideas to the band and has since become a permanent fixture.
After playing a few local shows the band decided something was missing... David Skott (former
bass player of S.T.G. & Kommunity FK), and Douglas Avery. Satisfied with the current line-up,
Element progressed from being just another electronic band into a multi-faceted group with songs
ranging in style from goth to new wave to industrial and every avenue in-between.
The songs are carefully crafted, meticulously shaped and smoothed out for a truly unique sound.
Element have just contributed a track for the upcoming deathrock.com compilation. They are also
finishing up a track for a Rozz Williams tribute album, due out next year and are
currently in the studio re-mixing and recording the new album, which should be out early in 2002.
After that, there are plans in the works for their first ever European tour and US tour in support
of the much anticipated new release.
